The Victorian Government's Transport Connections Program creates opportunities for people with limited access to transport to participate in community life and access services and resources.Transport Connections funds 34 projects across Victoria, including Surf Coast's program called "Surf Coast Connect".

Community Bus

The Surf Coast Shire has four community buses available for groups to hire. Find out more.

Bus Timetables

Information regarding bus timetables can be obtained from the bus operator, McHarry’s or VLine on 136 196.

School Bus Routes

Changes to school bus routes are referred from individual schools to the Department of Education bus route coordinator. In turn, the coordinator requests the Shire for approval to use the roads proposed along the new route.

Public Transport Services

To assist residents and visitors access information on train and bus services, Viclink has a site set up which details timetables, route information and includes a journey planner.

Complaints about Public Transport

The Public Transport Ombudsman receives, investigates and resolves complaints from consumers who use or are affected by Victorian public passenger transport services, or the public transport related activities of the operators. Find out more on the Public Transport Ombudsman website.

Bus Stops

New bus routes and stops are installed in association with the State’s Department of Transport and the bus operator. The Shire refers requests for extension of bus routes or new bus stops to the bus operator, McHarry’s Buslines, in the first instance.

Bus Shelters

In recent years, the Shire has provided a small allocation each year for the replacement of old bus shelters and installation of new ones. The priority for provision of the bus shelters is usually determined upon the number of people utilising the bus stop. Requests for new bus shelters can be referred through Customer Service.
