Family/Personal

Cr Webster lives in Torquay. He is a single parent of a teenage son and enjoys adventure riding in outback Australia and Asia, and outdoor activities with his son.

Career/ Background/ Interests

Cr Webster has a rural background, including work experiences in Western Victoria, remote outback Australia and Northern Ireland, along with seasonal work in ski fields. He has also worked on large land care and water-saving projects in the Great Artesian Basin, and provided skills based training services for the long-term unemployed and Aboriginal communities. Cr Webster is a long time Torquay resident who works as a self-employed beef producer and fire-prevention contractor. He is the current Mayor of the Surf Coast Shire, a Director of the G21 Geelong Region Alliance and is the chair of Bendigo Bank’s Torquay Community Enterprise. Cr Webster was a member of the Surf Coast Shire’s Planning Committee for 10 years, prior to becoming a councillor, and has travelled extensively throughout Asia by motorbike, researching regional development and aid projects, and volunteers with an NGO.

Priorities & Challenges

“I am committed to continued representation of our community, in a positive and responsible manner to ensure adequate infrastructure and services are provided to meet our community needs. A challenge for Council is ensuring that we have long term policies and strategies in place to facilitate the sustainable future of our region, while ensuring our unique natural environment is protected. I continue to advocate for full Secondary Education being available in Torquay, as well as improved Public Transport and an aquatic facility.”
