Precinct 1
- Construction for Precinct 1 Drainage Improvements commenced in February 2009. Construction and swale drain formation have been completed. Planting of swale drains will be completed in the near future.
- This project is being funded through a combination of Council contribution and a Special Charge Scheme. Invoices will be forwarded to contributing property owners upon completion of the works.
- Culvert crossovers play an important role in terms of the affectiveness of drainage networks within Precinct 1. An audit of vehicle crossovers for all properties within the Precinct was completed in February 2009 and Council is working with the Community to ensure that all crossover culverts are brought into line with Council Standards. An inspection of the crossovers will be carried out in December 2009.
- As part of the traffic calming measures, a trial slow point treatment will be constructed at the intersection of Roadnight Street and Eaglerock Parade.
- It is anticipated that definition and landscape works for the '5 ways' intersection' of Aireys, Anderson, Hartley and Roadnight Streets and the trial slow point will be completed by December 2009.
- All traffic calming initiatives within Precinct 1 will be funded by Council.
Precinct 2
- Precinct 2 is the area bounded by the Great Ocean road, Bambra Road, Boundary Road and Philip Street (excluding properties within Precinct 1).
- A Precinct 2 Citizens' Jury was formed in November 2008 and the Jury met over three days in November to consider the followng charge:
"In Precinct 2, what road and drainage work do we need / want, can afford, which preserves / enhances the environment?"
- The Jury process included presentations from witnesses in the fields of road and drainage, and also from Council Officers in the fields of planning and Special Chrage Schemes.
- The Jury recommendations will be presented to Councils at its Ordinary Meeting of 23 December 2008.
- The Jury recommendations were reviewed by the witnesses from the Jury process and Council reconvend the Jury. The jury voted on a set of recommendations to determine the preferred options for road and drainage solutions.
- Council at its 22 July Meeting resolved to take the recommendations back to the community by way of submissions.
- More information will be provided to all property owners within Precinct 2 in the near future.

Citizens' Jury Recommendations
Project History
- There are ongoing concerns from some residents about stormwater flooding and the condition of some local roads, like corrugations, pot holes, dust and pedestrian safety.
- In 2006, on behalf of Council, GHD Pty Ltd completed a major study of roads and drainage in Aireys Inlet to see how they can be improved to meet local community expectations.

- Council has limited capacity to fund capital works and improvements, and any upgrading of roads and drainage infrastructure within Aireys Inlet would be funded through a combination of Council funds, ratepayer contribution and external grants.
- Council endorsed the Citizens' Jury process for Precinct 1, and at its meeting of 4 September 2007 endorsed the Citizens' Jury Recommendations for Precinct 1.
- The process was deemed successful and in October 2008, the Citizens' Jury Process was endorsed for Precinct 2
