| Dog's and Cat's Registrations All Dogs and Cats over the age of three months that reside within the Surf Coast Shire MUST be registered and microchipped. As from May 2007, State legislation provides that all new applications to register a dog or cat will not be accepted unless the dog or cat has been implanted with a microchip (of which proof must be provided). This includes dogs and cats moving into the municipality from another Council. The owner of any dog or cat not registered by the 10th April each year shall be liable to be prosecuted.
