| Cultural Precinct Proposals on Display Winchelsea is growing both in its population and in its importance as a gateway to the Great Ocean Road and the south west of Victoria. With growth come new community needs and new opportunities for economic development. Reflecting this growth, concept drawings for the proposed Winchelsea cultural precinct are now on display at the Winchelsea Supermarket, 29 Main St. You may wish to view the concept drawings located on the Surf Coast Shire web page and respond on the feedback form provided The community is invited to examine the drawings and provide its feedback. This display presents the concept drawings for a new cultural precinct and cultural centre intended to enrich the life of the Winchelsea community and assist with tourism development by providing a focus for travellers and visitors. Coomes Consulting Group and Studio 101 Architects have prepared the concept drawings to show how the many ideas put forward so far might be turned into reality. The cultural centre drawings include a meeting place, café, Internet access, art gallery, historical display, toilet facilities and a visitor information centre. A cultural precinct master plan will add landscape improvements to reinforce the character of the town and highlight some of its valuable heritage buildings, like the Globe Theatre and old public library. The designs are concepts only and are offered for your comment and feedback. Have your say! Please fill out a feedback form which is available with the display and return it to Coomes Consulting Group. The comments received will be included in the consultant’s report to the Surf Coast Council.
