Chief Executive Officer
Surf Coast Shire Council is seeking to appoint a dynamic and innovative leader as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With a strong focus on driving the organisation forward, and a visionary and inspirational approach, the CEO will lead and manage the Executive team and the organisation to achieve Council’s vision and objectives.
Committed to the community and working from a sound financial base, the CEO will report to, and work closely with, the Mayor and Councillors to deliver on the Council Plan. A key emphasis will be ensuring Council’s policies and services balance the needs of the Shire’s diverse community, and that economic development and land use planning is sensitive to the Shire’s distinct environments.
Demonstrating exceptional communication, facilitation and leadership skills, you will ideally bring a collaborative and inclusive management style, and a strong commitment to community engagement and good governance. You will be politically astute, demonstrating a high level of self-awareness, integrity and the ability to think laterally. Experience as a CEO or General Manager in local government, or a related sector will be highly regarded along with a relevant tertiary qualification.
Located 20 minutes from Geelong and 90 minutes from Melbourne in south-west Victoria, Surf Coast Shire is among the fastest growing regional municipalities in Victoria.
Spanning an area of 1,560 square kilometres, the Shire boasts some 55 kilometres of spectacular coastline. Surf Coast Shire is home to a permanent population of some 24,000 people, which more than trebles at peak holiday times
