Residents can dispose of items past their "use by" date or no longer wanted such as paint, kitchen or bathroom cleaners, fluorescent tubes, disposable batteries etc... The Detox Your Home program offers a safe alternative to disposing of these items down a drain or placing them in a garbage bin. For further information please visit www.sustainability.vic.gov.au, select the 'Find a Service' tab

DRUMMUSTER

drumMUSTER is a national program for the collection and recycling of empty, clean farm chemical containers and is a joint initiative of the National Farmers' Federation, Veterinary Manufacturers and Distributors Association, Australian Local Government Association and the National Association for Crop Production and Animal Health.

Holiday home owners can use drop-off collection facilities when leaving the Surf Coast Shire. General household and recyclable materials can now be placed in rubbish bins at any time at the designated collection points, located at:

  • Torquay – 25 Grossmans Road, please follow the signs to drop-off facility adjacent to emergency services site.
The drop off point is clearly marked with signs. Do not deposit waste at any other location within 25 Grossmans Road.
  • Anglesea – Diggers Parade, Great Ocean Road next to the Shell Service Station
  • Lorne - Grove Road near the intersection with Otway Street (Timber screened enclosure adjacent to the Lorne Lions Club).
