School Vaccination

Council also provides a school immunisation service to students in years 7 and 10 as recommended by the state government.

The vaccines offered are:

  • Year 7 - Hepatitis B two injections given 5 months apart and chicken pox catch up vaccine (if required).
  • Year 10 - Boostrix (Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis) and Meningococcal C Vaccine. Both vaccines are given at the same time in different arms.

Consent card and information sheets are sent out to all secondary schools and colleges during the first quarter of the school year.

Any student who misses any vaccinations can arrange to attend one of Council’s Immunisation session to catch-up.

School Immunisation Certificates

In the past, Council has issued either complete or incomplete certificates to aid child school enrolments.

As per ACIR (Australian Childhood Immunisation Register) guidelines, Council no longer issues immunisation certificates for school enrolments. ACIR issues an immunisation statement to each child approximately one month before the child's fifth birthday. This statement now acts as wether a complete or incomplete immunisation status certificate for school enrolments.

For enquiries please contact ACIR direct on 1800 653 809 or visit www.hic.gov.au. For a list of FAQ's please visit the Department of Humans Services website at www.health.vic.gov.au.
