Organisational Structure

The organisational structure at Surf Coast Shire is headed by the Chief Executive Officer and divided into three directorates with each directorate the responsibility of a Director.

The role of the CEO is to take responsibility for leading and managing the organisation to ensure implementation of the goals and strategies endorsed by Council. In doing so, the CEO creates a climate for good democratic governance and promotion of the principles of fairness, equality, openness, accountability and transparency within the organisation to assist Councillors to govern effectively, as required under the Local Government Act (1989).

The Corporate Services Directorate provides a range of core support services to the organisation, including financial and risk management, information technology, organisational development and human resource management. It also includes externally focussed activities like tourism, health, communications, rate and local laws.

The Infrastructure Directorate provides services that relate to planning for, constructing and maintaining the physical assets of the Council. Services include engineering design and subdivision development; traffic and transport management; waste management; capital works; project management; purchasing and contract management; and infrastructure maintenance
