Pest Plant and Animal Action Plan

The Surf Coast Shire has produced a Pest Plant and Animal Action Plan. The Plan aims to:

  • provide a strategic approach to pest plant and animal management in the Surf Coast Shire,
  • integrate and form partnerships with community groups and stakeholders who have an interest in pest plant (PP) and pest animal (PA) management,
  • build on successful components and programs already in place and;
  • provide a framework for longer term management of pest plants and animals.

This Plan will be subject to a review in 2008.

Pest Plant and Animal Implementation Committee

The PPA Implementation Committee is charged with the responsibility of implementing priority actions in the Pest Plant and Animal Action Plan. The Committee is comprisesd of Council officers and community group members.

Rabbits

Queries relating to rabbits or other vermin can be referred to the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) on Ph: 136 186 or www.dpi.vic.gov.au

They will not send an officer out to inspect or trap animals but they are happy to discuss issues relating to rabbits and other pests and offer solutions for self management and provide referrals where necessary for further assistance.
