Brian has served on the Surf Coast Shire Council for eight years having been elected in November 2008. Previously he was the Shire’s Mayor in 2011-12 and 2016-17, and has recently been elected for another four years as a Torquay Ward Councillor.

He has served on a number of boards and committees including the G21 Alliance Board, The Geelong Colac Tourism board and the Surf Coast tourism board, as well as been Council’s representative to both the MAV and VLGA. He has also served on the Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee and the Schoolies Working Group.

Brian is also a Sergeant with Victoria police and has 38 years’ service with that organisation, commencing his career in 1979. He held the position of the Officer In Charge of Torquay Police Station for 14 years, and has recently completed a two year secondment with an anti-drug unit in Geelong. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Police Studies from Deakin University.

Brian originally lived in Melbourne and moved to Torquay 22 years ago where he has raised a family. He is very involved in his local community and has a strong commitment to the future of the Surf Coast Shire.
