Artists wishing to secure prime exhibition time can submit entries for Surf Coast Shire Council’s community calendar art competition.

The 2019 competition is now open for original submissions, in varying mediums, with the 12 works to colour each month to be selected by a panel of judges.

The calendar’s cover work will be decided by people’s choice vote while all submissions are on exhibition at Surf Coast Arts Space in Anglesea from 31 August to September 16.

“Our community calendar is widely distributed across the shire and highly valued as an artistic addition to many homes and businesses,” Mayor David Bell said.

“This competition has been running for more than 20 years and provides great opportunity for exposure, with display of the work supported by a description and artist profile.

“I always enjoy the diversity of works selected, from sculptures to paintings, photos to mixed media.”

The 13 winning artists will also receive a cash prize.

Competition categories are:

  • Open, with all media accepted
  • Installed sculptural work, submitted via photograph
  • Youth, up to 25 years.

Artists must be ratepayers or residents and can submit only one entry. Entries close on 27 August.
