Application Reference Number: PA1800340

Background

Inverleigh Wind Farm Pty Ltd has made an application to the Minister for Planning for a wind farm at a site fronting Peels Road and Gnarwarre Road, north-east of Winchelsea.

The application is to use and develop a wind energy facility with 16 wind turbines up to a maximum height of 200 metres.

Surf Coast Shire Council is not the planning authority for wind farms but is seeking to help people understand the planning permit process and explain how individuals can find out more information.

Minister Called in application

In October 2018 the Minister for Planning advised Council he would call in the wind farm application and a related application to operate a solar farm at the same site.

As a result, an Independent Panel appointed by the minister will consider both applications.

Directions Hearing

The Independent Panel held a Directions Hearing on 29 November 2018 at the Surf Coast Shire Council Chamber. During the hearing, the Panel Chair, Sarah Carlisle, gave an overview of the proposal and noted at that time 80 submissions had been received, with the possibility of further late submissions being referred from the minister.

Panel Hearing

The Panel Hearing has been set down for two weeks in February:

  • Monday 4 February to Friday 8 February, 2019
  • Monday 18 February to Friday 22 February, 2019

at Surf Coast Shire Council Chamber, 1 Merrijig Drive Torquay.
