The Community Engagement Policy was presented at the September 15 Council meeting and the Policy has been adopted Council.
We had a variety of participants respond to the policy with some really constructive suggestions that have now been included in the final document. Other input received will inform the development of documents to guide the implementation of the policy.
Community input resulted in changes to several areas within the draft policy, specifically around accessibility and inclusion, representation, and support to encourage participation.

Thank you to all those who took part in providing feedback on our Community Engagement Policy.
Council has reviewed its Community Engagement Policy, which is now a requirement of the Local Government Act 2020. During July/August, the draft Policy was available for community feedback.
This policy outlines how we engage with the community; our principles and commitments to meaningful engagement processes, and our framework for selecting appropriate engagement methods. It also includes elements now required by the Local Government Act, including highlighting opportunities for deliberative engagement.
