Review of Governance Rules

At its Special Council meeting on 7 September 2020, Council resolved to adopt Governance Rules, with a requirement for the Rules to be reviewed within 12 months of the 2020 general election. The process for reviewing the Governance Rules is now underway, with Council resolving at its meeting on 25 May 2021 to seek community feedback on the draft reviewed Governance Rules.

The document has been updated with user-friendly changes, and improvements have also been made to the meeting procedure sections to streamline and modernise the Council meeting process.

Community engagement will be conducted in accordance with section 60(4) of the Local Government Act 2020, allowing the community to review and make a submission on this matter. A Special Council Meeting for Hearing Submissions is scheduled for 13 July 2021 (if required), with the reviewed draft Governance Rules to be considered at a future meeting of Council.
