Throughout our lives we often take our independence and wellbeing for granted.  It is not until we grow older that we realise how important it is to have the support of others to stay social, healthy, to get around and to maintain our homes.

We have a broad range of services available to our community and their families to help with positive ageing.

Available services

  • Domestic assistance
Assistance with household jobs including laundry, grocery shopping, meal preparation and vacuuming cleaning
  • Personal care
Let us help with bathing, grooming, dressing, fitting of aids, daily living activities, shopping, meal times, and help to get to medical appointments.
  • Respite care
Your loved one can enjoy social and recreational activities while you take a well-deserved break.  We offer regular or occasional respite services, giving primary carers a break.
  • Delivered meals

We deliver delicious meals to your door.  Choose from our extensive menu of affordable and healthy meals.
  • Property and home maintenance
No need to call a handyman!  We can help with all sorts of jobs including changing light bulbs, limited gardening assistance, minor repairs and small modifications to the home.
  • Social Support
Stay connected and make new friends with our community outings.  Enjoy a Musical Mornings performance or enjoy a social day out at one of our Café Program activities.
  • Home Care Packages
Home Care Packages are individually planned and coordinated packages which assist older people with complex needs to remain living in their own homes.

Who is eligible?

Surf Coast Shire residents. We have programs for both under 65 and over 65.

For those under 65 (or under 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) contact Council on (03) 5261 0600 to arrange an in-home assessment to identify your needs. Or, you can be referred for services by a GP, health service or a community service organisation for assessment.

For those over 65 (or over 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) you will need to:

Step 1 Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit www.myagedcare.gov.au.

Step 2 My Aged Care will send Council a referral to contact you to arrange an in-home assessment.

Step 3 Once you or your family member is approved, you/they can access our home care services.

How much does it cost?

The cost will depend on your or your family member’s needs and source of income. A final price will be determined at the time of assessment, with eligibility for either the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and the Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC PYP).  Costs are subsidised. Your actual fee will be determined at the time of assessment.
