What is the Café Program?
The Café Program is a social support program based at different local cafés
where you can enjoy a delicious morning tea or meal. The focus is on bringing people together, creating opportunities to meet other people in your area, and accessing information and community resources.
Am I eligible for the Café Program?
It is available to the frail elderly and their carers, who want to keep socially active and connected. It is suitable for people with independent mobility and personal care needs.
- If you are over 65 years:
Commonwealth Home Support Program eligibility applies. To be eligible to attend the Café Program or other social support activity (such as Musical Mornings program), you and/or your carer must first register with My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422. Please advise the My Aged Care representative that you would like to connect to social support opportunities. An assessment is required to confirm eligibility and complete your registration. This means a member of our assessment team at the Surf Coast Shire will make contact to arrange a convenient time to visit you in person, and provide you with information about the services available to you.
What does it cost?
The cost varies - a small fee may apply to some programs.
