For Year 5 to Year 8 students and their parents/guardians

Young People live in an amazing world; they seem to seamlessly move between their ‘online world’ and ‘living directly world’.

As a community this can create questions as they baffle us with their speed and connectivity, take risks and sometimes make mistakes.

This session is a chance for families to come together and explore what technology will look like in their lives.

In this session we will talk about:

  • potential risks
  • strategies for managing concerns
  • how we keep communication open as our families grow their interaction with their online worlds.
  • healthy online relationships
  • gaming
  • social media
  • gambling
  • importance of role modelling
  • creating rules that fit your family
  • screens and your body
  • staying safe
  • looking out for your mates
  • what to do when things go wrong.

The session runs for 90 minutes is interactive and a bit of fun.

Dad was with me to listen.

The whole thing was fantastic. It’s always going to be hard to cover all the content in one evening but you did extremely well. Loads of great ideas and communicated in an accessible and humourous way. A fun evening!  Thanks for keeping up with the research too.

Stop the head in the sand mentality.

Learning that prohibition doesn’t work.

Funny, entertaining, informative.

Lots of practical tips delivered in an accessible way.

That my son was here too engage in the information evening.
