A calendar appointment to enter art competition

4 August 2017

A lucky 13 artists will have their work selected for the 2018 Surf Coast Shire Calendar, with locals encouraged to submit pieces for inclusion in the popular publication.

The 2018 Surf Coast Shire Calendar Art Competition is calling for Surf Coast artists to enter their work. All submissions will be on display in September at the Surf Coast Art Space in Anglesea.

A panel will select 12 winning entries to appear in next year’s calendar, while a People’s Choice vote will take place during the exhibition at the Art Space. The top piece as judged by the community will feature on the cover of the calendar.

Surf Coast Shire Mayor Brian McKiterick said the calendar is widely-distributed across the Surf Coast.

“Towards the end of each year, the calendars are dropped off to various locations in our shire and they’re snapped up very quickly,” he said.

“It’s heartening to know that this annual competition provides local artists with an invaluable opportunity to have their work seen by thousands of people.”

The competition has three categories – Open (all media accepted), Installed Sculptural Work (submitted as photo) and Youth (up to 25 years). Artists can submit one entry.

The 13 winning artists will receive a cash prize and acknowledgment in the calendar.
