Environment and Rural Advisory Panel
Council is committed to pursuing innovative and sustainable practices that will preserve and enhance our natural environment, support rural business and encourage clean industries. Council’s Environment and Rural Advisory Panel was formed in 2014 to assist Council to deliver these commitments through providing advice during a series of facilitated workshops linked to Council priorities.
In 2016, the Environment and Rural Advisory Panel will discuss topics under the overarching theme of Environmental Leadership, including:
- Community projects and environmental leadership
- Hinterland tourism, local food and agriculture
- Land use and wildlife
- Renewable energy
15 volunteer panel members are selected each year through an expression of interest process, with representatives being chosen from across the Shire, and bringing a diversity of knowledge, skills and interests to the group.
The next call for expressions of interest for Council’s Environment and Rural Advisory Panel will be in early 2017. Members act in a volunteer capacity and need to commit to attending at least three of the four workshops over a 12-month period.
