Request for property information

Use our Application for planning property information (written advice) form(PDF, 237KB) to:

  • Confirm if a Planning Permit is required for a proposed use, change of use, or a development (including signage)
  • Obtain advice on the zone and overlay controls of a property
  • Obtain advice about the tenement provisions and whether land has policy support under the tenement provisions for a dwelling
  • Obtain advice or guidance on interpreting the Surf Coast Shire Planning Scheme or other planning legislation
  • Obtain advice on a planning related enquiry.

Use our Application for copies of planning permits and endorsed plans(PDF, 102KB) form to:

  • Search the planning history of a site
  • Obtain copies of Planning Permits and endorsed plans for a site.

While Council can provide copies/ allow viewing of the Planning Permit and any plans endorsed under the Planning Permit, it cannot provide access to documents associated with the making of the application for the permit or documents associated with the assessing of the permit. Things such as technical reports, expert reports, officer reports, internal memos and communications between Council and other persons are not available under Section 70 of the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

Use our Certificate of compliance application form(PDF, 203KB) to:

  • Request a certificate stating that your proposed or existing use or development complies with the requirements of the Planning Scheme and therefore does not require a Planning Permit.

A fee is charged for this service; however you can attend our offices at 1 Merrijig Drive, Torquay to view the documents without charge.
