Spring Creek Oval reconstruction enters final stage
Published on 13 January 2026
The Spring Creek Oval reconstruction has reached the final stage, with new turf laid last week as part of the major upgrade.
The oval reconstruction started in October 2025 and remains on track for the oval to reopen in March 2026, in time for the upcoming football season.
Councillor Liz Pattison said it was exciting to see this project reach this milestone and high-lighted the long-term benefits for local sporting clubs and the wider community.
“This upgrade will deliver a high-quality, fit for purpose playing surface that can be used year-round and enjoyed by the whole community,” said Cr Pattison.
“With turf now in place, we are asking the community to stay off the grass during this important establishment period. The oval will remain closed until it is ready to use.”
The Spring Creek Oval reconstruction included:
- New turf and sub surface works.
- Improved drainage and irrigation.
- Fencing, minor pavement and kerb works.
Cr Liz Pattison thanked the community and sporting clubs for their co-operation throughout the works.
“We know the closure has required flexibility from local clubs and users, and we sincerely thank them for their understanding and support,” she said.
“I’d especially like to thank the Torquay Cricket Club for relocating their matches for the 2025/2026 season to allow the reconstruction to go ahead,” said Cr Pattison.
The Spring Creek Oval reconstruction is part of Council’s 2025/2026 Asset Renewal program.
The oval had reached the end of its useful life and was no longer able to provide a fit for purpose surface year-round.
