Road safety
We are working towards a future free of deaths and fewer serious injuries on area roads
Council, in partnership with VicRoads and Victoria Police, created the Surf Coast Road Safety Strategy 2016-2021(PDF, 1MB) . The strategy was developed using crash data analysis, a review of current road safety research and extensive community consultation.
Eight key goals in the strategy
- Safer rural roads
- Safer motorcycling
- Safer unsealed roads
- Safer cycling
- Safer tourists
- Safer schools
- Safer pedestrians
- Safer drivers
A future free of road deaths
The overall aim of the strategy is to reduce the number of people killed as a result of road crashes in the Surf Coast to zero, and to reduce serious injuries by 30 per cent.
