Adoption of Community Amenity Local Law 2021

At its meeting on 7 December 2021, Surf Coast Shire Council resolved to make the new Community Amenity Local Law 2021, in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020. The Community Amenity Local Law 2021 will be in force from 8 December 2021.

The objectives and intended effect of the Local Law are to:

  • provide for the peace, order and good government of the Surf Coast Shire;

  • regulate and control uses and activities on Council land, roads and public places;

  • manage, control and regulate activities and uses of land that may be dangerous, cause nuisance or damage to others and/or the environment, and could affect the health and safety or amenity of others;

  • provide a clear framework of rules with proportionate penalties for non-conformance that are applied fairly, transparently and consistently;

  • provide for the administration of Council’s powers and functions; and

  • revoke Community Amenity Local Law No. 1 of 2011.
