There has been a short delay to the planned completion date of 1 July due to delays in laying asphalt on the site’s internal roads. Asphalt paving is the final stage of this phase of the project and is expected to be completed by late July, pending further weather delays.
Works completed in recent months include the new roof over the waste-drop off bays and installation of security cameras across the site to improve safety and reduce illegal dumping at the site entrance.
The final phase of the project is the commissioning of the new gatehouse. This work cannot proceed until a planned power upgrade is completed later this year.
Project Update: 4 May 2026
Roofing framework has been installed over the waste drop-off bays to provide shelter for customers while they unload their waste and recycling.
The new shelter is part of the multi-million-dollar upgrades that will make the site safer, more user-friendly, and increase the recovery of valuable resources for recycling.
The upgrades include:
The new drop-off bays will increase the recovery of valuable materials for recycling and improve handling of existing waste streams.
Completed works include construction of green waste drop-off bays, which are now open to the public.
The transfer station will operate as normal during the upgrade works, but mulch will not be available.
The project is jointly funded by Council and Sustainability Victoria.
