Surf Coast Shire Council has supported proposed changes to its Road Management Plan and will place it on public exhibition for comment.

The plan, adopted in June 2017, outlines how Council will meet its obligations under the Road Management Act to inspect, repair and maintain its sealed and unsealed roads.

Minor updates endorsed by Council at its 25 September meeting include refining of definitions and interpretations, and aligning of regular inspection and response timeframes in accord with road hierarchy.

Mayor David Bell said the review responded to legislative requirements.

“One year into the new plan it is important to ensure that it is serving its purpose,” Cr Bell said.

“Road management is obviously high on the public agenda. Council committed extra funds towards improving road management in this year’s budget and is always striving to improve its processes.

“This plan is one important element of our road management framework.”

The updated Road Management Plan will be on display for public submissions for 28 days from 4 October via www.surfcoast.vic.gov.au
