Asset Renewal Programs

At Council we are responsible for a significant and growing portfolio of assets valued at over $1.6 billion.

The renewal and management of these assets are guided by the Asset Plan 2021-2031.

What is asset management?

A systematic process to guide the planning and design, creation and acquisition, maintenance and operations, renewal, disposal and rationalisation of assets to balance available funds with community needs.

How do you know when an asset needs renewing?

Each year council officers develop the annual renewal programs based on:

  • Asset condition audit data. This audit is conducted every three years for each asset class.
  • Strategic asset modelling, which uses predictive modelling to determine how an asset will perform over its lifecycle.
  • Maintenance feedback from proactive and reactive inspections.
  • Community feedback.

Using this information, assets are ranked for renewal with on site inspections used to confirm the ranking is correct.
