New Solar Incentives Now Available for Victorian Businesses
Published on 08 October 2025
With energy prices continuing to rise, now is a great time for businesses to explore renewable options. The Victorian Government, through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, is offering generous rebates on solar PV systems to help businesses and community organisations cut costs, reduce emissions, and invest in long-term sustainability.
Whether you’re running a café, warehouse, office, or managing a local facility like a school or aged care centre, these new incentives can make a significant difference. And with additional Commonwealth rebates also available, your business could see installation costs reduced by up to 35%.
Who’s eligible?
All Victorian businesses and non-residential sites — such as community buildings, schools, and hospitals — are eligible, provided:
- The solar PV system is between 30 kW and 200 kW in size
- The system is installed by an accredited provider
- The inverter capacity is at least 30 kVA
- The system is connected to the grid and meets relevant network requirements
- One system is installed per National Meter Identifier (NMI)
- A monitoring portal is included for end-users
How much can you save?
Under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, you could receive:
- $4,550 off a 50 kW system
- $9,100 off a 100 kW system
- Up to $34,300 off a 200 kW system
These are indicative discounts based on current VEEC prices.
Additional savings are available through Commonwealth Government incentives:
- Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) for systems between 30–100 kW
- Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) for systems over 100 kW and up to 200 kW
Combined, these can reduce installation costs by up to 35%.
What types of sites qualify?
Examples of eligible system sizes include:
- 30–50 kW: local government offices, aged care facilities, retail sites
- 50–100 kW: aquatic centres, schools, hospitals, warehouses
- 100–200 kW: large commercial/industrial rooftops and factories
Considering batteries?
Under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, eligible businesses installing solar systems under 100 kW may also receive around 30% off the cost of a battery (up to 100 kWh capacity).
