'Voices from Home' is Surf Coast Shire’s 2026 Creative Initiative Project, led by award-winning spoken word artist Megan J Riedl.
What does Home mean to you?
Throughout October, people from across the Surf Coast Shire have shared their stories, memories and experiences of Home through creative writing workshops and community contributions. These stories will inspire original spoken word and poetry, brought to life on stage in November.

‘Voices from Home’ – A special one-off live performance
Over the past few months, people from across the Surf Coast Shire have shared their stories, memories and experiences of Home through creative writing workshops and community contributions.
Now, those stories are coming to life on stage.
Join award-winning spoken word artist Megan J Riedl and local emerging creatives for a special one-off performance exploring the people, places and moments that make us feel at Home.
Through spoken word and poetry, the performance brings together stories inspired by contributions from across the Surf Coast Shire community.
Whether you've shared a story, joined a workshop or are simply curious to hear what Home means to others, we'd love you to join us.

Meet Megan J Riedl
Megan J Riedl is an award winning spoken word artist, writer and performer and the lead artist for 'Voices from Home'.
Through her practice, Megan works with storytelling, performance and community voices to explore people, place and lived experience.
