2026 Surf Coast Shire Community Art Prize
The Surf Coast Shire Community Arts Prize celebrates the creativity and talent of artists from across the Surf Coast Shire.
Local artists are invited to enter an original artwork for the chance to exhibit at Anglesea Art Space from 8 to 25 October 2026 and be considered for a range of awards.
Entry is free and artists at all stages of their creative practice are encouraged to take part.
Applications open Monday 24 August* and close Monday 28 September 2026.
About the Community Arts Prize
The Community Arts Prize provides local artists with an opportunity to exhibit their work and have their work recognised.
Awards will be presented across a number of categories. Visitors to the exhibition can also vote for their favourite artwork in the People’s Choice Award.
Who can enter?
The Community Arts Prize is open to Surf Coast Shire residents, ratepayers and tenants.
Entry is free and each artist can enter one original artwork.

What can I enter?
Artists can enter one original artwork.
Two-dimensional artworks must be ready to hang and no larger than 100cm x 100cm, including the frame.
Sculptures must be no more than 1 metre in height or depth.

Awards
The 2026 Community Arts Prize includes:
- Community Arts Prize: $1,500
- Emerging Artist Award: $800
- First Nations Creative Award: $800
- People’s Choice Award: $500
- Highly Commended: non-monetary recognition
The Community Arts Prize is non-acquisitive, which means artists keep ownership of their artwork.
How can I take part?
Enter an artwork
Applications open Monday 24 August* and close Monday 28 September 2026.
Artists will need to complete the online application form and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
Visit the exhibition
Everyone is welcome to visit the Community Arts Prize exhibition at Anglesea Art Space from Thursday 8 to Sunday 25 October 2026.
See the works of local artists and vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Award. Voting will take place at the exhibition only.
