We are inviting the community to have their say on the draft Road Upgrade Policy which will guide how Council identifies, assesses and prioritises future road upgrade projects.

The draft policy aims to improve transparency around road upgrades by clearly outlining the factors Council considers when assessing requests for road improvements and determining which projects should be included in future funding programs.

Deputy Mayor Tony Phelps said maintaining and improving local roads was a priority for Council.

“We know road upgrades are important to our communities, and we want to make sure we have a clear and transparent approach to deciding where and when upgrades are needed,” he said.

“The draft policy sets out the factors we will consider when assessing road upgrade requests and planning future projects.”

The policy will also provide a framework for planning and delivering future road upgrade programs, identifying opportunities for improvements and supporting Council’s advocacy for priority road projects.

It will help Council take a strategic approach to identifying road infrastructure needs across the Surf Coast and planning for future investment.

Cr Phelps said community feedback would help shape the policy.

“We encourage residents to read the draft policy and share their feedback. Community input will help us make sure the policy reflects the needs and priorities of our communities,” he said.

Feedback received will be considered before the final policy is presented to Council for adoption.
