Update July 2026

The works to install the raised pedestrian (wombat) crossing are now complete.  


Update June 2026

Works to install a raised (wombat) crossing on Baines Crescent will commence on Monday 15 June and are expected to take one week to complete.

Baines Crescent at Surf Coast Highway will be closed for one day to undertake the works. Access to Baines Crescent will be via Beach Road.

Works include:

  • Installation of a raised (wombat) pedestrian crossing, including line marking.
  • Installation of footing, pole and light for pedestrian crossing.

Works are complete on a new footpath from Baines Crescent to Bristol Road on the west side of Surf Coast Highway. 

This footpath delivers a missing link in the shared path network along the Surf Coast Highway, connecting the Surf precinct to the Torquay Town centre and foreshore.
