Christmas week collections

There will be no kerbside collections on Christmas Day (Monday 25 December).

From 25-30 December, bin collections will move forward one day:

Other summer waste information

Transfer stations / landfill

  • All facilities will be closed Christmas Day.
  • Anglesea Landfill will be open Saturdays 16 December 2017 to 27 January 2018 (9am to 4pm).
  • The Lorne Transfer Station will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 26 December 2017 to 25 January 2018 (9am to noon). 

Elevated Fire Danger Days

During the declared fire danger period, waste services may be affected as follows:
Extreme fire danger rating:
  • Kerbside waste bins will be collected earlier in the day (starting from 12am). Please make sure your bins are out early the evening before.
  • Anglesea Landfill will open from 5am to 10am.
  • Anglesea Transfer Station open from 9am to 10am.
  • Lorne and Winchelsea Transfer Stations will be closed.
Code Red fire danger rating:
  • No kerbside collections. Collections will occur on the following day(s)
  • All transfer stations and the Anglesea Landfill will be closed.

Additional recycle collection

All residential properties that get Council’s kerbside waste collection will receive one extra recycle collection. This will occur the week following either Christmas or New Year,
depending on the collection schedule for your area. This is shown as a pink square on your waste collection calendar. 

Detox your Home - Household chemical collection program

The Detox your Home program is a safe, free and easy-to-use service to dispose of common household chemicals.

There are nearby Detox your Home events held each year in Geelong in February and Colac in November.
