To apply for a volunteering role

  1. Complete the application form on the Volunteering with Council page

Some individual roles have their own application form on their listing, or you can submit a general application form if you are unsure which role you are interested in and we will contact you to help you choose what's best for you.

If you would prefer to discuss your application over the phone or in person, please contact the Volunteer Advisor on 5261 0600 or email volunteering@surfcoast.vic.gov.au.

  2. Download and review the volunteer handbook(PDF, 5MB)

  3. Review the policies

If you require a copy of the handbook or policies in a different version (e.g. hard copy or accessible word version), please contact the Volunteer Advisor via phone on on 5261 0600 or email volunteering@surfcoast.vic.gov.au.

Inclusion and accessibility

Council's Workplace Adjustments Policy(PDF, 653KB) ensures that we provide the necessary support to employees and volunteers with disability, mental health conditions, access needs, or those who are carers.

Adjustments may relate to role design, recruitment, training, performance management, or workplace accessibility.

What does this mean during the volunteer recruitment phase?

Potential adjustments during the volunteer recruitment phase might include:

  • Applying via phone or in person rather than submitting a written form
  • Bringing a support person to interviews and inductions
  • Using specific communication methods as required
  • Receiving information in advance, such as interview questions
  • Asking for information in a different format (e.g. hard copies, large print, accessible documents)
  • Physical accessibility requirements

How do I request a workplace adjustment?

Please contact the Volunteer Advisor or your volunteer supervisor by phone: 5261 0600 or email: volunteering@surfcoast.vic.gov.au.
