Council is supporting electric vehicle (EV) use on the Surf Coast and Great Ocean Road through the installation of public charging stations at several locations.

This work has been supported with funding from the Victorian Government via its Destination Charging Across Victoria program.

Note: A number of other sites were assessed in Winchelsea before the Barwon Terrace site was chosen. The following criteria are required for an EV charging station:

  • Council owned and operated switchboard and meter.
  • Power supply available to be upgraded.
  • Location is convenient and easy to find for travellers.
  • Disability access.
  • Minimal impacts to heritage buildings.
  • Minimal impacts to current parking arrangements.

A note on pricing

Usage fees for our public chargers are aligned with each charger’s individual capacity. Chargers with lower capacity have a corresponding lower usage fee per hour.

Idle fees are in place to encourage turnover, ensuring charging stations are available to the maximum number of users.
