Community & Civic Precinct - future land use planning

Survey is now closed.

Thanks to the 50 people and various sporting clubs and associations who shared their feedback on the Draft Future Land Use Plan. The survey has now closed, and we will be reviewing all input before determining next steps on the project.

The Community & Civic Precinct in Torquay has become an established local sporting and recreation hub. Its current facilities provide for cricket, football, netball, soccer, hockey, touch football, basketball, badminton, group fitness, skateboarding, scooters and playgrounds.

A masterplan for the site was first completed in 2009 and then reviewed in 2014. With substantial development occurring within the precinct – including the Wurdi Baierr Stadium, Grant Pavilion Extension, and soon to be constructed Surf Coast Aquatic & Health Centre – Council is now undertaking a land use planning process to provide clarity on the future recreation and social infrastructure uses on the site.

A draft Future Land Use Plan has been prepared, which highlights the following:

  • Facilities that are already existing, or planned/committed to, for an identified use.
  • Facilities/areas noted as ‘potential’ – we are welcoming your feedback on these.

This process will ensure Council can continue to plan and advocate for the infrastructure in this precinct, that meets future community needs.
