Clean-up events and Council support

Council supports Clean Up Australia activities across the Surf Coast by accepting litter collected by volunteers at Council transfer stations free of charge.

You can take part in Clean Up Australia Day at any time of year. Join a local clean-up site or register your own. Individuals, families and groups are all welcome.

Volunteers receive a free clean-up kit with gloves, bags and other resources. Please allow at least 10 working days between registering your event and your clean-up day to ensure delivery. Kits are available for individuals, families and community groups.

When choosing a clean-up site, consider safety risks and ensure all participants follow Clean Up Australia’s terms and conditions. Watch their short videos for guidance on organising and leading a clean-up.

To be eligible for free litter disposal, volunteers must:

• register their site with Clean Up Australia;
• email Council at info@surfcoast.vic.gov.au with:

• vehicle make, model and registration
• the transfer station being used
• expected drop-off date and time.

If large items are found e.g. furniture or cars, contact Council on 5261 0600 with the location and type of waste.
