Torquay cycling and walking network

Why are there more pedestrian crossings around Torquay?

They’re not random. They’re part of a growing network designed to make it easier and safer to walk and ride around town.

Check out this video to see them in action:

The crossings are actually part of our Safer Cycling Strategy, which helps make it easier to get around town by bike, and safer for people walking, riding or driving.

Raised crossings are becoming more common at roundabouts across Australia because they make traffic slow down and make pedestrians and riders more visible to drivers.

At the end of the day, it’s about keeping it easy to get around town, and helping everyone get home before the streetlights come on.
