Bundles vs Discounts

A discount can attract customers, but it can also leave little profit once you account for product costs, advertising, packaging and postage.

A bundle combines complementary products or services at one price, giving customers a ready-made gift while potentially increasing the value of each sale.

For a practical explanation, watch Stop Losing Sales On Black Friday – Davie Fogarty Mentors. The video starts with bundles and also covers other ways to structure an offer.

Try this:

  • Pair a best seller with a complementary or slower-selling item.
  • Check the total cost before setting a bundle price.
  • Give the bundle a clear name and show it in one good photo.
  • Consider other options, such as VIP early access, spend-and-save offers or a gift card with purchase.

Example ideas:

  •  a surf shop’s wax, leash and board-bag starter kit
  • a café’s coffee beans, keep cup and coffee voucher
  • a “Taste of the Surf Coast” hamper made with a neighbouring business.

If you advertise savings or a “was/now” price, make sure the comparison is genuine and the offer’s terms are clear.
