19 local events to share in $85,500 in grants

A total of 19 local events will share in $85,500 as part of Surf Coast Shire Council’s Events Grants Program 2022-23.

The annual grants program has been running for eight years and is designed to help improve the sustainability, diversity and positive impact of events held within the Surf Coast Shire.

Events to receive funding as part of the Events Grants Program 2022-23 are:

Tourism events category

Surf Coast Century - $10,000

Amy's Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo - $10,000

Afterglow Night Trail Run - $7,000

Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride - $6,000

Trail Running Series 3 Anglesea - $5,000

Brooks Surf Coast Trail Marathon - $5,000

Victorian Mixed Ultimate Championships - $5,000

The Shifty Fifty - $2,500

Boutique creative and special focus events category

The Sound Doctor Presents - $7,500

Surf Coast Open Air Cinema - $6,000

2023 Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles - $5,000

Aireys as a Dark Sky Location - $1,000

Community events category

Surf Coast Kite Festival - $2,500

Deans Marsh Festival - $2,000

Art of the Minds - $1,500

Soup, Sourdough and Stories – $1,500

Surf Coast Christmas Festival - $1,000

Anglesea Community Bowls Day - $500

“It’s fantastic to have a full schedule of events again. And we’re equally excited about the major tourism drawcards as we are about the smaller scale boutique and community events,” Surf Coast Shire Cr Mike Bodsworth said.

“Through our Events Grants Program, we’re rapt to help bring a great mix of events to the Surf Coast. These new and much-loved events bring people together, add to the vibrancy of our region and provide a boost for local businesses.”

A further $2,500 is also available for staging Christmas carols bringing total funding to $88,000.
