Update February 2026

Planning is progressing for the new Spring Creek footbridge, with detailed design now underway. This stage involves finalising technical drawings, materials and construction methods to make sure the bridge meets safety standards and integrates with the local area.

Works are expected to start on site by the middle of the year, when construction of the bridge will officially get underway.

Background

We're building a footbridge over Spring Creek near the Spring Valley Bike Park and Spring Valley Playground, to replace the informal 'pallet bridge'.

This footbridge will provide a crossing point across Spring Creek that will be accessible for all the community.

Removing the pallets will allow the creek to re-establish its natural flow, as well as reduce the erosion and impact on the creek bank and bed, from the bikes being ridden over the creek.

Minor vegetation removal will be required as part of the bridge works, these will be offset by new plantings as part of the planning approvals. Further re-vegetation works will be considered once the creek has returned to its natural flow.
