Everybody’s heard of surfing at Bells Beach, remembers the lighthouse in Aireys Inlet from 90s TV or has been to Lorne’s iconic Falls Festival – but what about life along the Barwon River in Winchelsea, the farming communities around Moriac, or the Otways around Deans Marsh? What makes Surf Coast Shire a place to live all year round? What makes the Surf Coast Shire feel like home?

Join artist Megan J Riedl for a series of guided generative writing exercises exploring the theme of Home. Participants will explore different poetic styles and techniques to help turn personal journalling, ideas and experiences into a dynamic poem or story that can be submitted to the 'Voices from Home' project.

Registration is essential for this free workshop. Refreshments will be provided.

About 'Voices from Home'

'Voices from Home' is Surf Coast Shire’s 2026 Creative Initiative Project, led by award-winning spoken word artist Megan J Riedl.

'Voices from Home' aims to explore what Home means to people across Surf Coast Shire. Through creative workshops and other opportunities to contribute, we’re inviting the community to share their words, stories and experiences to help shape a community performance to be presented in November 2026.
