Surf Coast Shire waste transfer and resource recovery facilities include drop off facilities for household garbage and a range of recyclable materials from domestic sources.

Disposal Sites Opening Hours

All waste disposal sites are closed on Christmas Day. Winchelsea and Deans Marsh also closed ANZAC day.

All Transfer Stations will be closed on Code Red (Catastrophic) fire danger rating days.

Lorne will also be closed on Extreme fire danger rating days. On Extreme days, Anglesea Landfill will open from 5am to 11am. The Anglesea Transfer Station will open from 9am to 11am.

* Surf Coast Shire’s existing transfer station infrastructure is designed to bear loads generated by small vehicles only. As a result, the following restrictions apply to the delivery of putrescibles and inert wastes, as well as commingled recyclables and recyclable metal:  1. The volume of each load must not exceed three (3) cubic metres of uncompacted waste. 2. The gross weight of each vehicle used to deliver mixed waste or commingled recyclables must not exceed four (4) tonnes.

Materials Not Accepted

The acceptance of certain types of waste is prohibited including: clinical wastes, liquid wastes, grease trap wastes, night soil wastes, used oil filters, asbestos, gas cylinders, chemicals and Hazardous or Prescribed Wastes of any kind.

Council’s gatehouse attendants and other waste management personnel are authorised to determine, on a case by case basis, whether items presented by customers will be accepted or refused.
