Every few years Council reviews its policies. We have just revised our Place Naming Policy and invite you to comment on the draft. We have now included the Plaques and Memorials policy and developed a new Management Procedure which will guide our decision making.

Please note that feedback has now closed. Thank you to everyone who made a submission.

Council often receives requests for naming of features such as streets or facilities and the installation of plaques or memorials and this policy will help both Council and the community to make a decision about a request.

Council is committed to both reconciliation and gender equity so this new policy reflects the emphasis of our Traditional Owners groups, and the diversity within our community. When Council considers the naming or renaming of a park, reserve, road, facility or feature it will take into consideration the principles governing standardisation within the naming rules for places in Victoria.
