Don't forget to secure your pets by 9.15pm tonight so they don't get disoriented or stressed by the New Year's Eve celebrations.

For 2018-2019 there will be three small sets of fireworks:

  • In the skies above Torquay surf beach at 10pm
  • Lorne at 9.30 and midnight

Fireworks are intentionally not being commercially promoted because they are low key and don’t have any ticketed or formal events associated with them.

This is also done to support local emergency services who will have their work cut out for them during this busy time and assist the overall efforts in keeping our community safe.

Remember, local laws prohibit:

  • drinking in public
  • glass in glass-free areas (including foreshore and beaches)
  • sleeping in cars.

These laws will be enforced, and booze buses and random breath tests will also be operating.

Customer Service will be open until 4pm today, closed tomorrow on 1 January and then open as usual over the summer period.

Council wishes all residents and visitors to the Surf Coast a happy and safe New Year!
