Anglesea sink hole
Updated July 2025
A sink hole has appeared on the trail from Point Roadnight Beach car park to O'Donohues Beach, Anglesea.
A major stormwater drain and ocean outlet is located beneath the sand dune. The stormwater drain appears to be directly beneath the sink hole.
The beach trail has been closed by GORCAPA for public safety. Access to the beach is from a trail on Melba Parade.

Council officers are investigating the cause of the sink hole and if it is related to the stormwater drain. Investigations can only take place on a suitable low tide.
Geotechincal investigations and CCTV monitoring will be used to investigate the cause of the sink hole, the extent of the sink hole and the level of risk and remediation strategies prior to reopening the area to the public.
