The Stribling Reserve Pavilions Redevelopment project will deliver two upgraded pavilions – a netball pavilion and a main pavilion. Both pavilions will provide opportunities for Lorne locals and the wider community to participate in a range of activities, including sports, community events and meetings.
This is a key project in the Stribling Reserve Masterplan, which was the result of an innovative partnership between Lorne community members and Council. The masterplan is guiding future improvements to the reserve – Lorne’s major open space recreation facility.
What will this project involve?
- A new netball pavilion to meet Netball Victoria guidelines. It will feature change rooms and amenities for home and away teams, an accessible toilet, an office, first aid/trainers’ room, umpire amenities and storage. It can also be used by the wider community as a space to hire.
- An upgrade of the main pavilion to meet AFL Victoria guidelines and a new second level to the existing main pavilion with northern entry.
- The main pavilion will feature community spaces, commercial kitchen, the inclusion of unisex amenities to promote increased use by the adjacent school and female sporting participants, and provision of new public toilets.
Engaging the community
There will be an opportunity for people to provide feedback on the design of the main pavilion in June/July. Council will advertise the feedback period in local newspapers. You can also check back on this page to have your say.
The netball design was available for review late 2019 and no submissions were received.
We continue to engage with various community members who are playing a key role in delivering this project. Thank you to representatives from Committee for Lorne, Lorne Football Netball Club, Lorne P-12 College and Stribling Reserve Committee of Management for their valuable advice and leadership.
