Latest News - Pathway Strategy Review

September 2011
Council is in the process of reviewing the 2006 Pathway Strategy to ensure that the planned work aligns with current community expectations. We would like to confirm a revised strategy that sets our priorities until 2022.

The public consultation period for submissions of the 2006 Pathway Strategy Review closed 31 August 2011. The submissions received are being reviewed and a report recommending a revised strategy will be made to Council in November 2011. If adopted, it will then be available for public access.

Pathway Strategy

In 2004, the Surf Coast Shire Community Plan highlighted the desire of many local communities to significantly improve pedestrian pathways around their townships.

It has been identified that the esttablishement of a good quality pathway network will improve physical and social connections as well as promoting the environment and general health.

In 2006, the Surf Coast Shire developed a Pathway Strategy outlining a comprehensive plan of existing and potential pathway linkages including footpaths, shared pathways, on-road bike lanes and walking tracks.

The Pathway Strategy document has been broken into small sections for easy download. Please refer to the documents below.
