Information updated 19 April 2024

Horseshoe Bend Road Bridge reconstruction works: Horseshoe Bend Road is again open to traffic at Thompson Creek Bridge following completion of extensive repairs.

The road was reopened in both directions on 18 April, with regular speed limit in place.

Major repairs to the road and bridge followed repeat flooding events.

Repair work has included reinstating the damaged road pavement and safety barriers.

Reinforced concrete pavement and scour protection now protects downstream banks, and rock beaching protects upstream banks.

The crossing will still be a floodway during peak storm events but new construction elements will help ensure it better resists water damage.

The road safety barriers have been modified to help avoid impeding flood water flow.

We thank community members for their patience during the extended road closure due to the damage and repairs and acknowledge funding for the repair work from Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements shared between Australian and Victorian governments.
